Henfield Parish Council were devastated to hear the sad news of the death of Councillor Malcolm Eastwood
Malcolm was elected to Henfield Parish Council in May 2015 and was Chairman of the Parish Council from May 2017 – May 2023
During his time as a Parish Councillor Malcolm enthusiastically delivered numerous projects for the benefit of the village including::
The new link road by the Leisure Centre,
Various walking trails in the countryside around Henfield,
The renovation of the Memorial Playing Field on Henfield Common
Improvements to the playing fields and playgrounds.
Many of you will also remember Malcolm successfully leading the campaign in 2019 to stop 7,000 new dwellings being built by Mayfield Market Towns.
He was actively involved with many groups in the village including the Haven, Henfield Football Club and Henfield Youth Club
Malcolm was elected as a Horsham District Councillor for Henfield in May 2023
Malcolm was also Chairman of the of Horsham Association of Local Councils (HALC)
Anyone who met Malcolm could not fail to be impressed by his foresight, energy and determination to see his various projects through.
He was totally dedicated to Henfield and maintaining the best features of the community, whilst also managing necessary changes.
He was a remarkable man who leaves a lasting legacy of successful projects and a Parish Council which is well prepared to meet future challenges.
The Parish Council join with many other people in offering sincere condolences to his wife and their family.
