The Parish Council have approved in principle plans to install a new conversation style bench in the Village Square to commemorate the Her Majest Queen Elizabeth II.

An amazing piece of art work has appeared on the street art wall at Henfield Skate Park. We're unsure who the artist is but watch this space for more of the same!

Planning Inspectorate invites you to have your say on Gatwick Airport expansion plans

Have Your Say on the Gatwick Expansion PlansAs part of proposals to expand the capacity of Gatwick Airport, its operators, Gatwick Airport Ltd (GAL) and the Planning Inspectorate are inviting members of the public to have their say on the recently submitted application for Development Consent by Sunday 29 October.

The Gatwick Airport Project proposes alterations to the existing northern runway at Gatwick Airport which, along with lifting the current restrictions on its use, would enable dual runway operations. The Project would also include the development of a range of infrastructure and facilities to allow increased airport passenger numbers and aircraft operations.

Further information regarding the NSIP process for members of the public and others can be found on the Planning Inspectorate’s website.

Council launches new free business skills workshops

A new programme of free business skills training is being launched by Horsham District Council and Horsham District-based independent businesses are being urged to book now for places to avoid disappointment.

A variety of skills and topics are covered in the training sessions, both in person and online, all having been identified by local businesses to be highly valuable.

The Council’s business training programme is consistently popular, with topics often being oversubscribed. The training is delivered, for the most part, by locally based independent specialists, further reinforcing the Council’s own ‘Buy Local’ policy.

Over 100 local businesses in the last year have added to their skills and resilience through the programme and continue to benefit from access to an exclusive online training hub.

Covid-19 and flu jabs update

Residents of older adult care homes and people who are housebound will begin receiving their Covid-19 and flu vaccinations from this week, as the NHS kickstarts its winter vaccinations campaign.

The vaccination programme, which was brought forward based on the latest expert advice following the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant, will prioritise those at greatest risk.

Starting with care homes and people who are housebound, other eligible groups will begin to be invited to get their top-up protection from next week.

People will be able to book their jabs from 18 September, through the NHS website, the NHS App, or by calling 119.

Eligible groups may also be offered a vaccination sooner by GP surgeries or other local NHS services.

The NHS is encouraging people to get both vaccinations as soon as they can and not delay, due to the risk of the new Covid-19 variant and ahead of the busy winter period.

It is important for those who are eligible to top up their protection, even if they have had a vaccine or been ill with flu or Covid-19 before, as immunity wanes over time and these viruses change each year.

You can help reduce the risk of catching and passing on Covid-19 by:

  • getting vaccinated.
  • letting fresh air in if meeting indoors, or by meeting outside.
  • wearing a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces.
  • trying to stay at home if you are unwell.
  • taking a test if you have Covid-19 symptoms, and staying at home and avoiding contact with other people if you test positive.
  • washing your hands and following advice to ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’.

Safe vape disposal

Do not dispose of single-use vapes in either your recycling or waste bins at home. They often contain hazardous materials which can start a fire when they are crushed during collection and sorting.
