From Monday 19 June SGN contractor DJ Utilities will commence a programme of work to replace gas mains in your local area. This essential work will involve replacing the old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes to ensure we can continue to provide residents and community with a safe and efficient gas supply.
Due to the location of the gas main in the road, varying traffic management will be required, the following outlines the planned programme.
Please note these dates are for guidance and may vary as they are subject to progress and access.
Road Closure required
Lower Station Road - 19 June (duration 1 week)
Lower Station Rd to the junction of Batts Pond Lane – the road closure is planned for one week.

Nep Town Road - 26 June (duration 15 weeks)
The team will be working their way along Nep Town Road taking the closure with them as they progress, vehicle access to properties will change as the closure moves. Hewitts and Blackgate Lane will be completed as the team progresses past on Nep Town Road. Resident vehicle access to Hewitts and Blackgate Lane will be via the Nep Road closure diversion.
Vehicle access arrangements for the closures
There will be no through vehicle access past the point of closure in both directions, local diversion routes will be in place.
Vehicle access to properties within closures will be maintained wherever possible – our team will keep residents informed of the local arrangement. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained at all times.
Bus route will be on diversion – we would advise bus passengers to speak to their bus provider for more information about changes to bus routes, timetables and bus stop locations.
The following three roads are still being planned, we’ll confirm exact dates as soon as they are confirmed. Road closures will not be required to complete the work on these roads.
Broomfield Road and Croft Lane – September start date TBC (duration 6 weeks)
Lovers Walk (Footpath Closure) / Cagefoot Lane (Private Rd ) – October start date TBC (duration 6 weeks)
Mill Drive / Cedar Way- December start date to be confirmed
